“Squid Game: The Challenge” Renewed For A Season 2

Netflix’s “Squid Game: The Challenge” just debuted its season finale and Mai Whelan (Player 287) took home the win!!

Finalists Sam Wells (Player 016), Mai Whelan (Player 287) and Phill Cain (Player 451) were the last competitors standing for the final episode.

At the end of the episode, the show confirmed that it will return for a 2nd season.

“There was no red light in our decision to greenlight season two of Squid Game: The Challenge, the most ambitious unscripted show we’ve premiered at Netflix,” Brandon Riegg, Netflix VP of Nonfiction Series, said in a statement. “We’re so excited to continue the franchise of Squid Game with our team in Korea, and producers at Studio Lambert and The Garden for this epic competition series.”

Based on the streaming service’s hit Korean drama, the reality competition series pits 456 real players against each other for the biggest prize in reality TV history: $4.56 million. Squid Game: The Challenge has dominated Netflix’s Top 10 English TV list, hitting No. 1 since its debut, and hit the Top 10 lists in 93 countries. The original scripted drama also holds the record as Netflix’s most popular series of all time, with over 1.65 billion view hours in the first 28 days after its September 2021 premiere.
